The last day of the 4th event Special Dreamers!! announced the third season of Uma Musume: Pretty Derby. It isn’t that surprising that one of the highest-grossing games in Japan will have another season.
The game itself just celebrated its 2.5 anniversary on August 22, 2023. Through an anniversary live TV event, they revealed the information related to the third season starting from new PV, a key visual, and release date.
Uma Musume: Pretty Derby season 3 will debut on October 4, 2023. The show will be broadcast on Tokyo MX and BS11 at the same time. Later, Kansai TV will air it on October 7 and Saga TV on October 9. As of now, there is still no confirmed streaming channel worldwide.
Uma Musume: Pretty Derby PV and Key Visual
The PV was released on August 22, 2023. It highlights how the third season will unfold. In this season, we will follow the journey of Kitasan Black, who was still underage in the two previous seasons.
Based on the setting, Uma Musume is set at Tokyo’s Tracen Academy where horse girls who want to compete train. As highlighted, the characters from the past like Special Week (Season 1) and Tokai Teio (Season 2) will appear once again.
Though the third season was announced in November 2022, there was a short animation from the first anniversary of the game depicting Kitasan Black and Satono Diamond’s first enrollment to the academy.
The new key visual was released on the 2.5th anniversary of Uma Musume: Pretty Derby’s Paka Live TV program. Aside from new characters, there are three past characters, Gold Ship, Tokai Teio, and Mejiro McQueen.
Cast and Staff
Uma Musume is a game franchise that has over 80 characters voiced by different VAs. While the VAs for the game are that many, the anime version only shows a few of them in the several seasons of the series.
Now that the third season drops off, it means we have a new character who will join the anime version. Do note that this season will have five new characters aside from the previous seasons’ characters. They include:
- Yano Hinaki as Kitasan Black
- Tachibana Hina as Satono Diamond
- Suzuhiro Sayumi as Satono Crown
- Natsuyoshi Yuuko as Cheval Grand
- MAKIKO as Sounds of Earth
Like the VAs, all of the key staff is returning for the third season of Uma Musume. Kei Okawa is once again directing the series at Studio KAI. Manabu Nii, Shingo Nagai, and Tetsuya Kobari are responsible for the series composition.
Yousuke Kabashima and Tomoki Tsuji are serving as character designers, while Satoru Fujimoto is returning as chief animation director. Uma Musume group will once again perform the opening new song “Soshite Minna no”.
As of now, the ending theme is still TBA. But, we can expect to hear it soon because the album of opening and ending will be sold on November 1, 2023.
