Tokyo Revengers have officially returned. Beginning in January 2023, Tokyo Revengers Christmas Showdown will Stream On the Disney Plus network. Increased collaboration with Kodansha is also mentioned in the release, which suggests the platform will host additional anime series.
This is only the start of many exclusive streaming service deals. Since the 1950s, when popular Disney characters were first translated into manga, Disney and Japanese manga publisher Kodansha have collaborated. This partnership has grown because Disney will now hold the only streaming licensing rights to all animation produced from a manga written and published by Kodansha.
In the previous season Takemichi Hanagaki discovers his middle school ex, Hinata Tachibana, died in a Tokyo Manji Gang dispute. After being mysteriously pushed off Shinjuku station, he time-travels twelve years back. Now in the past, he starts his mission to save Hina by changing the present.
Tokyo Revengers on Disney+
Disney intends to concentrate on original anime as premium entertainment given the recent two-fold increase in demand for high-quality anime globally. Disney has resumed their former collaboration with the Japanese publishing house Kodansha. Therefore, the Tokyo Revengers Christmas Showdown Will Stream On Disney.
The anime version of Ken Wakui’s original manga series created a lot of hype among fans since it stood out from many other action series in its first season. But as the premiere of the upcoming episodes approaches, the program now has a new streaming host.
An active partnership between the two will aid in building a solid library of anime stories. Disney may potentially remain ahead of its rivals by concentrating on Asian content.
What about the North American Release?
Even while there isn’t currently a set release date for Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown Arc, Disney has disclosed that they have purchased the global exclusive license for the new season, which will begin in 2023. It will be broadcast by the corporation on a number of platforms throughout the world, including Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar.
As of the time of writing, Disney has not officially announced its plans for the North American release. There are two outcomes that could occur in this situation, one of which is a less desirable choice.
Tokyo Revengers Christmas Showdown may follow the same release schedule as Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, which is available on Disney+ every week when new episodes air in Japan but is only available in the United States on Hulu USA.
Another option is that rather than releasing its anime exclusives on a weekly basis, Disney would do so in bulk for spree-watching. As of the time of writing, a number of seasonal anime from 2022 that launched exclusively on Disney+ in Japan (such as Summer Time Rendering) are still not available on Disney+ USA or Hulu USA. Disney will, however, provide more details in the future.
