After, arguably, a bad adaptation in season 2, Naofumi is coming back for The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 to redeem his deeds.
The staff announced the third season at the same time as the second season. The announcement was made at the special stage panel of The Rising of the Shield Hero at the Crunchyroll Expo Convention on September 1, 2019.
The key visual for the second season was revealed back then, showing the mighty size of Spirit Giant Tortoise. But, when the anime was finally hit off, it turned into disappointment. Bad CGI that can’t blend enough with its surrounding 2D visual.
Not only that, but bad pacing episodes are also a huge factor that this anime has a lower rating than the first season. The first season covers 4 volumes in 24 episodes while the second season covers 4 volumes in only just 13 episodes.
Bringing a bad impression from the previous season, how does Kinema Citrus approach the upcoming season of the series? Will it adapt only 3 volumes, Fallen Heroes Arc, or go beyond to 5 volumes, Q’ten Lo Arc?
Before asking that, the official released the visual key for the third season.on April 7, 2023. Read on!
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 Trailer
Kadokawa released the trailer video on their YouTube channel on April 7, 2023. Based on the PV, this season will cover the Fallen Heroes Arc. With his fellow heroes gone missing after the Spirit Giant Tortoise raid, Naofumi is trying to drag the troublemakers into doing their job as heroes.
Not only that, but they also want to bring the demi-human slave back to their village. It seems they track Raphtalia’s friend to some kind of colosseum. Judging from the PV for the upcoming season, the anime will cover three volumes, 10-12 volumes, of Aneko Yusagi’s light novel.
The biggest announcement is, of course, the release date of the third season of The Rising of the Shield Hero. The anime will premiere in October 2023.
Just like the last caption, our regrets make us stronger. Will the third season be “stronger” than the regretful second season? Let’s wait for it.
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 Visual Teaser
The teaser visual of the third season only shows the four heroes with a green screen behind them. Not like the second season visual teaser, no information is present from that key visual.
But, The first key visual for the third season released on August 7, 2022, is a bit different. It shows King Melromarc in his days as one of the heroes. He sits down in the pile of ruins. It also mentions six deadly sins, and cleverly, blends into the background.
Will the third season tell the story of King Melromarc in his heyday?
