The Legendary Hero is Dead! Anime Opening Theme and April 6 Premiere Revealed
Good news comes from the anime “The Legendary Hero is Dead!”. We won’t have to wait that long to watch the absurd adventure of Touka to save the world.
The staff has fully unveiled all things related to the anime and it’s just about the time we start the countdown until the premiere.

On February 28, 2023, the official Twitter of The Legendary Hero is Dead! tweeted the list of announcements related to anime including the additional cast, second PV, opening theme, and exact release date.
It states that the anime will premiere on April 6, 2023, in Japan. Overseas fans can stream this anime on Crunchyroll as part of the spring 2023 anime simulcast lineup.
The additional cast also was announced at the same time. They include:
- Nakamura Yuuichi as Osment Kyle
- Ohara Sayaka as Borgnine Esel
- Hatano Wataru as Belarco
- Aoki Takashi as Gardner Isaac
- Kobayashi Chikahiro as Tolman Leland
- Ono Kensho as Norstein Friedrich
- Asanuma Shintarou as Valentine Diego
- Touchi Hiroki as Yunis Fieri
Kujou Rion (Hagure Yuusha no Aesthetica) will direct the anime at LIDENFILMS and Satou Yuu will compose the series. The character design is drawn by Yabumoto Yousuke (Duel Masters), while Shimizu Youji (Yuri!!! on Ice) will supervise the sound element.
It is confirmed that Oishi Masayoshi will sing the opening song entitled “Shinda!” while Yurika Kubo will sing the ending song entitled “Kawaikutte Ijiwara Shichau”.

The newest PV was released on February 28, 2023. Just like the first PV, it includes the background of the story. but it goes deeper in this PV. It also contains a short introduction of each character.
Based on the PV, we can expect mixed comedy and ecchi in single anime. If you happen to be a manga reader, you know that this anime is so absurd, unlike other hero-demon anime concepts.

The Legendary Hero is Dead! Story
Far to the north, there lies a gate that is used as a portal for the demon lord to invade the human realm. Fortunately, the hero Shion Bladearts successfully seals the portal albeit prematurely. Because of that, the gate is weakened in just a few years.
The demon once again comes out from the portal. Shion wields his holy sword and starts vanquishing the demons all over the place.
The story shifts to Touka Scott who lives far south on the continent. Afraid of demon spawn, he digs a pitfall in his garden. When the demon approaches the village, Shion happens to be near the village and saves the village from destruction.
Now he will keep saving the world from here on. EXCEPT, THE HERO IS DEAD. After defeating the monster, the hero falls into Touka’s pitfall and ends up dead!
The company of hero, Anri Haynesworth, uses his necromancer skill to move Touka’s soul into the hero’s body. She believes that someone should shoulder the responsibility of the hero.
Threaten by the necromancer, Touka starts the journey to save the world using the body of the hero. Can he survive till the end?
