The Plot
In the year 2222, humanity grapples with the aftermath of Tears of the New Moon, a catastrophic rain that nearly wiped out our species. However, it gave rise to grotesque beings with an insatiable hunger for human flesh. Faced with this existential threat, humanity fled for their lives. In a desperate bid for survival, we constructed Amasia, an underground refuge in this dystopian world.
Within the confines of Amasia, a coexistence between humans and an Artificial Intelligence called Magus takes root. Together, they embark on a journey to unravel the truths that bind them. However, following the collapse of the underground city-state of Amasia, people began venturing back to the surface. They yearned to reclaim their lives.
These surface settlements, known as “Nests,” scattered worldwide, became the new homes for the returning survivors. However, the operations of these Nests depended on a crucial energy resource called “AO Crystals.” So, to secure these crystals, adventurers, known as “Drifters,” engaged in constant battles against the lingering threat of “Enders.”
Among these Nests, “Rock Town” emerged as a gathering place for Drifters. It was here that a young boy named Kanata, inspired by constant contact with the Drifters, harbored aspirations of becoming one himself. His opportunity arrived when he embarked on an exploration mission with a seasoned Drifter named Tokio. During this expedition, they stumbled upon a slumbering beauty named “Magus” named Noir. This set in motion a tale of destiny for Kanata.
Synduality Noir Manga
Expanding the narrative, the franchise introduced a manga spinoff titled Synduality: Ellie, honing in on the titular character. Launched in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine on July 26, the manga is skillfully illustrated by Hiroshi Mishima. Additionally, there’s a novelization under Kadokawa’s MF Bunko J label. The franchise doesn’t stop there, as it also boasts a separate novel spinoff, a “photo story” titled Synduality: Kaleido, which premiered in Hobby Japan’s Monthly Hobby Japan magazine on July 25.
So, Synduality: Noir’s first cour is like that cool hidden gem of the year – you know, flying under the radar and all. It’s the brainchild of the studio 8bit/Eight Bot, the same folks behind hits like “Tensura/That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.” it’s this awesome combo of Mecha and Sci-Fi, spiced up with humor and action, although it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.
Sure, some moments feel a bit on the generic side, and the world-building could use a little boost. But hey, the humor and action scenes swoop in like superheroes to balance things out.
