Exciting news came in from anime studio MAPPA on Friday as they revealed their latest project: the production of a new television anime series titled ZENSHU. A teaser visual and a teaser promotional video were also released.
The creative minds behind ZENSHU include Mitsue Yamasaki, Kimiko Ueno, and the talented team at Studio MAPPA, who are credited with the original work. Yamasaki, known for her directorial achievements in series like Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle and Tada Never Falls in Love, is taking the reins as director, while Ueno, celebrated for her writing in Carole & Tuesday and Astro Note, is penning the script.
Supporting the vision are Sumie Noro as assistant director, Yoshiteru Tsujino overseeing character and environment concept art, and Kayoko Ishikawa leading animation adaptation as well as serving as chief animation director. Joining Ishikawa as chief animation directors are Shuuji Takahara, Kazuko Hayakawa, and Etsuko Sumimoto. Yukari Hashimoto, acclaimed for her work on Komi Can’t Communicate and March comes in like a lion, is credited for composing the music.
Additional staff members contributing to the series include Akio Shimada as Background Art Director, Junko Suenaga as Color Design, Kenta Fujita as Director of Photography, and Mutsumi Takemiya handling Editing. Sound Production is managed by dugout, with Makoto Tanimura from Sound Wing serving as Casting Manager and Takahiro Ogawa as Animation Producer.
The anime boasts a stellar cast, with Anna Nagase starring as Natsuko Hirose, Kazuki Ura as Luke Braveheart, Rie Kugimiya as Unio, Minori Suzuki as Memmeln, and Akio Suyama as QJ. Their talents promise to bring the characters to life and immerse viewers in the world of ZENSHU.
The Bushiroad booth in this year’s AnimeJapan weekend in Japan will feature an exhibit dedicated to the anime.
MAPPA also described the anime as follows:
After graduating from high school, Natsuko Hirose starts her career as an animator. Her talent quickly flourishes, and she makes her debut as a director in no time. Her first anime becomes a massive hit, sparking a social phenomenon and earning her recognition as an up-and-coming genius director. Her next project is set to be a romantic comedy movie themed around first love! However, having never been in love herself, Natsuko struggles to understand the concept of first love, and as a result, she’s unable to create the storyboard, causing the movie production to come to a standstill.
