The team behind SAND LAND: THE SERIES, the anime adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s acclaimed “SAND LAND” manga, has unveiled an exciting promotional video and key visual for the ongoing “The Story of the Angel Hero” (“Tenshi no Yūsha”) arc.
Following its debut of the initial seven episodes on Disney+ Star’s “STAR Anime Series” and Hulu in the U.S. on March 20, the anime has garnered significant attention. The first six episodes, known as the “The Story of the Fiend Prince” (“Akuma no Ōji”) arc, feature recut footage from the anime film, supplemented with additional scenes. Subsequent to this, episodes 8-13 will be released weekly, culminating with the final episode airing on May 1. Episodes 7-13 will introduce audiences to the all-new “The Story of the Angel Hero” (“Tenshi no Yūsha”) arc, unfolding in the newly introduced setting of “Forest Land,” conceptualized by Toriyama himself.
Moreover, the series boasts a returning cast and crew from the film adaptation, including fan-favorite voice actors such as Mutsumi Tamura as Beelzebub and Kazuhiro Yamaji as Rao. Joining the ensemble for the “Tenshi no Yūsha” arc are new cast members Mikako Komatsu as Anne and Ayumu Murase as Muniel.
Directed by Toshihisa Yokoshima, with guidance from Hiroshi Koujina serving as the direction adviser, the anime series promises to captivate viewers with its engaging storyline and dynamic visuals. Hayashi Mori is responsible for the series’ script, while Yoshikazu Iwanami directs the sound, and Yūgo Kanno composes the music.
Originally serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from May to August 2000, “SAND LAND” received critical acclaim. Though short-lived, its impact was profound, leading to a single compiled volume published in November 2000.
The Sand Land Game will release on April 26, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
