It is less than two months before we can see our bunny girl, Mai Sakurajima, again. But hold your horses, the upcoming movie Rascal Does Not Dream is focused on Sakuta’s little sister rather than his girlfriend.
As we know, the second movie will adapt two light novel volumes, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid. The full trailer was released for the first of two projects.
The movie will premiere on June 23, 2023, in Japan. But before that, we should watch the newest PV for the film. What will it entail?
Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out PV
The PV was released on May 7, 2023. It mostly tells about the plot of the second movie. Long story short, Kaede, Sakuta’s little sister, wants to enroll in the same school as his big brother. But, her scar from the past still haunts her now. Thus, it is up to Sakuta to support her in achieving her goal.
Aside from that, no new information is released in the PV. Except for one, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out will likely adapt Fukashigi no Karte, the ending theme from the first season of the series.
This time, it will be a solo song by Kaede Azusagawa (VA: Yuriko Kubo). For the record, they already did that at the end of the TV anime for the last two episodes.
Almost all of the staff from the first movie are reprising their position in the second movie. Masui Souichi is directing the anime at CloverWorks.
Yokotani Masahiro is writing the script while Tamura Satomi is in charge of character design. Iwanami Yoshikazu is responsible for the music as the sound director.
With that kind of lineup, we expect the same quality film as the first movie back in 2019. For comparison, the first movie grossed 377 million from 257 thousand tickets sold in the first 24 days after release. Will the second movie become as successful as the first movie?

Actually, there is no new visual teaser for the Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out. The official released the latest visual teaser on March 26, 2023. It was released at the same time as the PV back then.
There is a saying, a picture is worth a thousand words. That’s what happened in the visual teaser of Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out.
With the tagline says, “Entrusted thoughts, From Kaede to Kaede”. As we know from the last episode of the anime series, Kaede loses her memory when she becomes a shut-in. Now, the one who is living is another Kaede.
With all the hints we get from the PV, we already know that this movie will focus more on how the “current” Kaede reacts to her “past” self. Will she grant her past-self wish or just abandon it altogether?
Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out Story
After an eventful December, Sakuta is at the end of his second year which means that his girlfriend, Mai, is a third-year school student. They don’t have much time together before Mai graduates from school.
Meanwhile, his sister, Kaede, starts to go out again. Just after setting her foot outside, she makes a big decision – enrolling in the same high school as her big brother.
Sakuta knows that’s a tall order knowing how difficult it will be. But, for the sake of his sister, he will do anything to help her.
It is just that he isn’t sure that this will be the best decision for her or even if it is what she truly wants.
