The staff of the Oshi no Ko anime has announced a special revival screening of the first season’s 90-minute debut episode, “Mother and Children,” scheduled for a two-week run starting June 7 in Japan, with a Dolby Cinema version available. Furthermore, an advanced screening of the first episode of oshi no ko anime’s second season will commence on June 30. The first season’s premiere episode received an advanced screening in Japan back in March 2023, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of the series on April 12. The eagerly awaited second season is set to debut in July, with streaming available on HIDIVE.
The first television adaptation of Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari’s manga premiered in April 2023, featuring a 90-minute opening episode. HIDIVE streamed the series as it aired in Japan, including an English dub, and hailed it as the “#1 series launch in the streamer’s history.” Directed by Daisuke Hiramaki and Chao Nekotomi, with Jin Tanaka handling the scripts and Kanna Hirayama designing characters, the first season boasted opening and ending theme songs performed by YOASOBI and Queen Bee, respectively.
The manga, which debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine in April 2020, garnered significant acclaim, winning numerous awards and nominations, including the Kodansha Manga Award. The series will have a live-action film and television series, with Toei handling the theatrical release and Amazon Prime Video exclusively streaming in winter 2024.
