Baki’s journey will never end! We have walked over the final chapter of the fourth sequel of Baki. Most fans thought that the journey ends when Baki finally confronts his father in the latest manga series, Baki-dou.

Baki New Manga
Baki has finished its fifth sequel, Baki-Dou, on June 15. The final chapter was released in the magazine’s 29th issue. Based on Baki’s original goal, this sequel should have been the final sequel we have.
Yet, Keisuke Itagaki, Baki’s author, will continue Baki’s story to a new stage. The news was announced in the 25th issue of Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion. It stated that the new Baki manga will be released on August 24, 2023, in the magazine’s 39th issue.
Unfortunately, further news hasn’t been leaked. His goal of defeating his father has been accomplished in this sequel, what wall must Baki overcome next?
History of Baki
Itagaki released the original manga, Baki the Grappler, from 1991 to 1999 with 42 volumes. The manga continued on its sequel, Baki, from 1999 to 2005. The sequel has compiled 31 volumes in total. Then, he released the next sequel, Hanma Baki, in the same year, 2005 to 2012.
After that, he took a rest for two years before launching a new sequel, Bakidou from 2014 to 2019 with a total of 22 volumes. The fifth manga series, Baki-Dou, was released in the same year and ended on July 2023.
Volume-wise, Baki has surpassed, arguably, the most popular manga, One Piece, with a whopping 148 volumes in total. Unfortunately, it isn’t the longest manga series to date. Currently, Golgo 13 holds the record with 208 volumes released since 1968.
