After delaying the next arc by almost a month, Jujutsu Kaisen finally came back. Now, they will continue the main story after bashing itself with the first four episodes of pre-requel.
It is confirmed that they will continue this season with the Shibuya Incident Arc. Reportedly, there will be 18 episodes of this two-cour that began on August 31.
The official Twitter of Jujutsu Kaisen also revealed a new cast member Aimi Terakawa who appears in the sixth episode as Ozawa Yuuko. Aside from that, the new arc also means a new opening and ending!
It was confirmed on August 3 that King Gnu would perform the opening theme “SpecialZ”. Meanwhile, hitsujibungaku performs the ending theme “more than words”. Currently, the creditless version of both the opening and ending themes has been released on the TOHO animation YouTube channel.
As the first opening, we may have a leak of the future story based on the opening. Let’s break it down!
Jujutsu Kaisen 2 Opening 2
The new opening turns out differently from the first opening. While the first opening uses a happy youthful atmosphere, this new opening highlights a grim atmosphere. The whole opening uses a red light ambiance to suggest the most brutal arc in the Jujutsu Kaisen.
Like the movie Jujutsu Kaisen Zero, the early scenes show all of the characters marching to the battlefield. It means there will be an all-out war between Satoru’s side and Geto’s side though there is a disparity in the number. While Satoru’s side has a number of people involved, Geto’s side only has six characters in sight; Geto, Mahito, Hanami, Jougo, Dagon, and Chouzo.
Looking at the lyrics of the song, there are two noticeable sentences that might be this arc’s turning point. The first is when Itadori turns into Sukuna, the lyric says “Every gesture, every move sets my heart on fire. Once we start running, it’s uncontrolled”. It may indicate that at some point, Sukuna will come out and Itadori can’t control him.
The second is when the chorus hits and shows Gojo’s surprised face while the song says “You are my special”. Maybe it is related to the first five episodes? Who knows? For now, let’s enjoy the next three months enjoying the most brutal arc in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Jujutsu Kaisen 2 Ending 2
The song has a mellow atmosphere depicting the relationship between Itadori, Fushiguro, and Nobara. Even though they bicker a lot, it is no doubt that they are best friends. Nothing can be seen in the visual part aside from they happen to be in Shibuya.
But, the lyric is a different story. Truth to be told, the whole lyric is mostly spoiler. It contains how Itadori feels in the last part of the Shibuya Incident Arc. When the arc turns into the final chapter, Itadori will end up emotionally falling to the lowest possible. That’s why the lyric says “Lately, I’ve been tired, and I’ve found myself just giving in to every expectation”.
