The, arguably, best original anime this season just ended on March 27, 2023. But a day before that, they already announced the second season of High Card at AnimeJapan 2023. Aside from that announcement, nothing comes out aside from a new visual teaser for the second season.
The series is the original work that comes from a franchise created by a collaboration of three big companies, Kadokawa, pachinko developer Sammy Corporation, and animation studio TMS Entertainment
Their story is written by Homura Kawamoto (Kakegurui franchise), and his younger brother Hikaru Muno (Kakegurui novel). They are inspired by the movie Kingsmen while writing the story. It’s no wonder that fans find the series like the mix of Kakegurui X Kingsmen.

Visual Teaser Of Season 2
The High Card anime just revealed that they are working on the second season. At AnimeJapan 2023, the visual teaser was revealed showing Finn with his nemesis, Black Knight, who kills his parents.
Do you see something weird? No, your eyes are fine. The visual has a typographical error. It’s funny because the staff realized the mistake after a day it was posted.
Currently, there is no news related to the second season of High Card. Looking at the first season. It takes almost two years for the series to be broadcasted. It is estimated that the second will have to wait for at least a year.
But, with good reception, the estimated date can be faster than expected. Who knows? Just stay tuned for further information.
High Card Story
The royal family of Fourland Kingdom holds a secret deck of 52 X-playing cards. Each card has the ability to bestow superhuman strength. However, the cards were stolen a month ago and then scattered across the Kingdom.
On the other hand, a thief named Finn Oldman tries his fortune in a casino to save the orphanage from bankruptcy. Unfortunately for him, he gets cheated by a cardholder who has “max luck” ability. Through him, he gets dragged into the conflict.
That’s when he begins to know the secret organization known as High Card, an elite team that is made for collecting the 52 X-playing cards by the order of the royal family. To smooth things out, they create a different persona as luxury car maker Pinochle.
Finn who has experienced the power of X-Playing cards is scouted to be a member of High Cards. Now he must work together with his team to recover 52 X-Playing Cards across the land.
With the interference of Pinochle’s rival, Who’s Who, and the Klondike mafia family, can they recover the entire deck of X-playing cards?
