Time to say goodbye to our favourite Funimation App, as it is shutting down. The news indeed makes anime fans sad because we have countless memories with this platform. After all, it is the medium through which we became friends with countless anime!
The official announcement came last year that the platform will merge with Crunchyroll. So, fans were mentally prepared to bid farewell to it sooner or later. However, the time has come, and the Funimation app will shut down on April 2, 2024.

The decision to merge both platforms is not something new or recent. In fact, things have been going since 2022. Last year, the platform started making changes as it had stopped providing the best features. It was slowly and steadily backing off, such as not allowing downloads and offline “watch” to the audience.
So, get ready to shift to Crunchyroll, as it’s the main character now. Subscription packages and everything will now take place on the said platform. Unfortunately, the Funimation digital copies will not be available on Crunchyroll, so prepare for that. Yes, if you have any digital copy content, you will lose access to them. This is a massive loss as nobody expected to lose the copies forever, but BEAR with it!
Well, the fusion of the two popular platforms is good news, yet it’s always sad to bid farewell. It’s not easy to transfer from our favorite anime streaming services. Technically, things are transferring from Funimation Crunchyroll, so most will remain the same without any significant changes. In short, you don’t need to worry about your subscriptions because you will be automatically transferred to the other platform.
Your Funimation app Watch History,and all your data will be accessable through Crunchyroll. There will be some changes such as the price increase and subscription type.
