Chivalry of a Failed Knight is not much different from your generic ecchi fantasy series that are forgotten soon after they finish airing; however, this show separates itself from the masses with its engaging story and likable characters. The Chivalry of a Failed Knight season 2 seems unlikely, but all hope is not lost.
The first season of chivalry of a failed knight did give us a somewhat happy ending, with Ikki and Stella finally confessing their feelings. Still, the community is eager to know what happens after their confession.
Unfortunately, we haven’t heard any news regarding a sequel since the series finished airing in December 2015, but let’s go over all you need to know about the possibility of a sequel.
Will there be Chivalry of a Failed Knight season 2?
Whether a show will receive a sequel depends on its popularity, the number of sales, and if there is enough source material to create another season.
And while there is no denying the series is incredibly popular within the community, and fans would love to watch a sequel, it was a complete letdown compared to the light novel and the manga.
One of the reasons to create an anime adaptation is to promote the source material. The anime series left the fans unsatisfied; it skipped over many important character development plots and felt rushed.
The possibility of a sequel will always remain a mystery, the franchise was popular due to its immensely popular light novel counterpart, and the anime adaptation was average at best.
The plot of Chivalry of a Failed Knight
There are unique individuals born with the powerful ability to manipulate their souls into weapons, and these individuals are invited to attend a prestigious academy to hone their skills.
The show is about a sole F-rated blazer, Ikki Kurogane, who is born without magical powers, yet his incredible sword skills leave no question about his abilities.
His life is a constant struggle, with his family interfering with his studies and everyone in the academy treating him as an outsider.
His life soon takes a turn when he meets his new roommate, the crimson princess of the Vermillion Empire, Stella Vermillion, who challenges him after their initial embarrassing encounter.
What are studio SILVER LINK and Nexus working on?
Chivalry of a failed knight premiered on October 2015 to December 2015 with 12 episodes. The series was produced by studio SILVER LINK and Nexus, with the former taking lead on the project.
Studio Nexus had no listed projects before the release of chivalry of a failed knight; however, they released Darwin’s Game in the Winter of 2020 and The Eminence in Shadow in the Fall of 2022.
Studio SILVER LINK has released some amazing anime series, including Bofuri, and Misfit of the Demon King Academy, and has been working on the sequel for both.
Both studios have their hands full, so it seems unlikely we’ll get to hear the news regarding the second season soon.
How much source material is left?
As of October 2022, the light novel Chivalry of a Failed Knight has 18 volumes in circulation, and the manga series with 11 volumes and 45 chapters currently available.
The first season of the anime adaptation covered 32 chapters from the manga and ended somewhere between volume 4 of the light novel.
There is more than enough material to create another season and then a couple more, but if you’re eager to read manga or a light novel. I’d recommend you start from the beginning because the anime adaptation skipped over some important details.
