Bad news comes from the JUMP series, Black Clover. After we have a series of postponed anime this season, we have the first movie delayed this time.
The official website states that Black Clover which originally hit the theater on March 31 is delayed to June 16 due to the spread of COVID-19 affecting the production phase. Netflix also posted a new schedule on its official Twitter account respectively.

It isn’t surprising after looking at the rising COVID-19 case in the anime industry. From this season alone, we already have the confirmed delay of The Misfit of Demon King Academy, NieR:Automata Ver1.1a, Ayakashi Triangle, and BOFURI.
But don’t fret, we expect this delayed parade will stop when we hit the summer season. The government of Japan has a plan to downgrade COVID to seasonal flu. The rule will be implemented after the Golden Week holidays on May 8, 2023.
Will it change the state of the anime industry in the future? Who knows.
Black Clover Movie
This movie will likely be treated as a standalone. Based on the fans’ prediction, the story takes in the six-month gap before the spade Kingdom arc.
This is supported by the fact that the staff will give out the volume 23.5 bonus book to the ticketholders. It contains the character design, a short novel by the film writer, and an interview with voice actors.
The storyline will take after the reappearance of the previous wizard king, Leto Conrad. He also comes with, possibly, the former captain of the magic order Funny Bunny Princia, Aberache Edward, and Galandros Jester.
Though the danger of Spade Kingdom is in plain sight, what is happening in the span of six months? The infighting between the old-generation wizard and the new-generation wizard begins!
When will Black Clover Movie premiere?
The movie was planned to be released on March 31. But, the movie gets delayed to June 8 due to COVID-19.
Is it canon?
No. So far, we can treat it as a side story between six months gap before the Spade Kingdom arc begins.
