The first season of the Arknights ended up having mixed responses. Some of them said that it had a slow pace, meanwhile, the seasoned player knew the whole season was only a prologue to the bigger problem.

The second season is highly anticipated by both players and non-players. It is because this season will continue the attack which escalates even further from the first season. There seems to be a more antagonistic character who will appear in the series.

The good news is that the official already released the trailer of the second season. At the same time, they also announced the release date of the series. It is confirmed that Arknights: Perish in Frost will premiere on October 6, 2023, at 10:00 AM (UTC-7) on Crunchyroll.

Arknight: Perish in Frost Trailer and Key Visual

The trailer for Arknight Perish in Frost was released on September 20, 2023. It highlights how the second season will unfold. From the PV, It seems the incident from the first season isn’t over, but rather, it escalates even further.

This time, the Reunion will attack Lungmen through the complicated streets of slums. Instead of only one leader, SkullShatter from the first season, they will be led by three high officers of the Reunion; Frost Nova, Mephisto, and Crownslayer.

It’s the duty of Rhodes Island and L.G.D, Lungmen Guard Department, to stop this guerilla attack. But, they aren’t the only ones who stop them. The PV suggests that there is an armed unit that will do dirty work that L.G.D. can’t do. Who are they?

The key visual was released at the same time as the trailer. It shows the list of characters who will appear in the second season. To sum it up, they will belong to three affiliates; Rhodes Island, Reunion, and Lungmen City.

Because this anime is based on a game, the cast will reprise their respective role from the game. The only new cast was the protagonist of Arknight aka Doctor.

Watanabe Yuuki (New Game!) is directing the series at Yostar Pictures (Azur Lane: Slow Ahead!). He is also serving as sound director like the last season. Takafuji Aya (Blue Archive ONA) is designing the character, while Hayashi Yuuki (My Hero Academia) returns to compose the music.

MYTH & ROID is performing the opening theme of the series entitled “ACHE in PULSE”. Meanwhile, ReoNa is coming back to perform the ending theme entitled “R.I.P.”. Both albums will be released on October 25 and November 15, 2023, respectively.

Story

The discovery of black minerals caused the rapid advancement in technology in the world of Terra. It has a mysterious power to grant magical abilities known as arts to individuals. The large veins of minerals can be found in the center of catastrophes caused by the mineral itself.

Though it has many benefits, there is a price that should be paid for it. Anyone who comes in contact with the mineral is bound to be sick. The illness caused the body to form a black mineral. The worst part is, it is highly contagious. Thus, the infected become a subject of scorn in many nations.

Feeling tired of oppression, the movement called Reunion, rebels and destroy cities. Further contributing to the already calamitous nature of Catastrophes. On the other hand, some infected joined Rhodes Island, the pharmaceutical organization that has a goal to find a cure for Oriphaty.
