The official website for the upcoming “Detective Conan: Hyakuman Doru no Michishirube” (Case Closed: The Million-dollar Pentagram) film unveiled a new trailer on Sunday, along with announcing midnight screenings across 23 theaters on April 12.
This midnight debut marks a significant first for the Detective Conan film franchise, diverging from the tradition of advance screenings before the release date. The 27th installment of the Detective Conan series is set to premiere in Japan on April 12, with an unprecedented screening in 515 cinemas nationwide, making it the largest theatrical release in the franchise’s history. Moreover, the film will have simultaneous screenings in various formats including IMAX, MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema, further enhancing the viewing experience for fans.
Adding to the excitement, AIKO is set to perform the film’s theme song titled “Sōshi Sōai” (Mutual Love).
The film introduces new cast members playing pivotal roles linked to the central sword in the storyline:
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Hijiri Fukushiro, a college student and skilled iai swordsman.
Takayuki Sugō as Ryōe Fukushiro, Hijiri’s father and master swordsman despite battling illness.
Hiroshi Naka as Takuzō Onoe, head of the Onoe conglomerate and issuer of a challenge to Kid.
Marika Kōno as Miko Yoshinaga, a miko with knowledge about Hijikata Toshizō’s sword.
Banjō Ginga as Brian D. Kadokura, an American arms dealer dubbed the “Merchant of Death,” implicated in a murder case with a cross-shaped wound.
Created by Gosho Aoyama in 1994, “Detective Conan” has enjoyed immense popularity, spawning a long-running television anime series since 1996.
